This is a real photo from a completed A5 installation. The CarPlay interface runs on the factory MMI screen — no screen replacement, no cutting, no coding. The original Audi menus remain available underneath.
Actual customer installation — wireless CarPlay running on the factory A5 MMI screen.
The A5 was produced across two platform generations with four different MMI systems. We verify the exact system for your A5 before dispatch.
| MMI System | Years | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| MMI 2G | 2008–2016 | A4 / A5 platform |
| MMI 3G | 2009–2016 | — |
| MIB | 2017–2020 | — |
| MIB3 | 2021–2023 | — |
Pair once and CarPlay connects automatically every time you start your A5. No cables, no plug-in required after the initial setup.
Google Maps, Waze and Apple Maps replace the A5's ageing factory maps with live-traffic turn-by-turn directions on the factory screen.
Make and take calls, send and hear messages through the A5's factory microphone and speakers. Siri and Google Assistant are voice-activated from the steering wheel.
Spotify, Apple Music, podcasts and audiobooks stream through the factory sound system with full steering wheel and MMI control.
If you would prefer not to install the kit yourself, we offer mobile installation across Sydney, quoted for your location after you order (install-only for your own kit from $250, subject to location). We come to your home or office, install the CarPlay retrofit, configure the DIP switches for your A5\'s MMI system, and test everything before we leave.

The kit works across the A5 Coupe, Sportback and Cabriolet within the supported years (2008–2023). The MMI system and harness are the same across body styles for a given model year — we confirm the exact configuration before dispatch.
Look at the rotary controller on the centre console. A plain dial with a colour screen indicates MMI 2G or 3G. A dial with a touchpad surface indicates MMI 3G+. Newer flat menu structures indicate MIB or MIB3. Send us a photo if you are unsure.
The MMI unit location differs slightly in the Cabriolet, but the harness connection process is the same. The CarPlay module integrates with the factory MMI regardless of body style.
Yes. Audio routes through the factory sound system. If your A5 has Bang & Olufsen or the standard Audi audio, it continues to work. The module does not replace the factory amplifier or speakers.
Yes. The module runs alongside the factory MMI, so the reverse camera and parking sensors continue to appear when you shift into reverse. CarPlay does not interfere with the camera feed.
Yes. Installation is A$0 at checkout and quoted for your location after you order; install-only for a kit you already have starts from $250 (subject to location). Select "Sydney Mobile Installation" at checkout. We come to your location within the Sydney metropolitan area.
